Carlos A. Soto

Lawyer, Arbitrator, and Professor of Civil Law and Arbitration. He is Founding Partner at Carlos Soto & Asociados - Firm of Professional Arbitrators in Perú and Spain (August, 2018).

He was a Head of the International Arbitration Practice Group at Muñiz, Ramírez, Pérez-Taiman & Olaya Law Firm. He acts as Chairman, Sole Arbitrator, Co-arbitrator in arbitration proceedings.

He was a Professor at the University of Piura (Universidad de Piura), the National University of San Marcos (Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos), the University of Lima (Universidad de Lima), and the Academy of Judges. Visiting Professor at postgraduate programs in Colombia, Argentina, and Bolivia. He is a member of the most important lists of arbitrators, including the Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce of Brazil-Canada/ CCBC-Brazil, the Court of Arbitration of Madrid, the Civil and Commercial Arbitration Court – CIMA (Spain), the Center of Arbitration of the Lima Chamber of Commerce, the Center of Arbitration of the American Chamber of Commerce-Peru, and the Administrative Arbitration Directorate of the Supervisory Board for State Procurement – OSCE.

He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Arbitration Club and the Latin American Arbitration Group of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. He is member of International Academy of Comparative Law. He was Chairman of the Peruvian Arbitration Institute – IPA and Director of the Latin American Arbitration Yearbook. He has served as Counselor to the Peruvian Congressional Code Reform Committee, Secretary of the Civil Code Reform Committee and Advisor to the Commercial Code Reform Committee. He currently serves as Secretary of the Civil Code Reform Committee – 2011. He is recognized as a leading arbitrator in Peru.
